In Hospice
Yes, Mac is officially under hospice care. This is not to say that she is dying.
Hospice affords extra nurse visits and close monitoring. It is also a shared expense with Medicare. This season has brought a nasty flu with it and it is assuredly making the rounds at the nursing home. The home is taking every precaution, administering extra cleaning. They have even stepped up medications. Rest assured that Madeline is being lovingly cared for.
It is presently not advisable to visit due to flu. Not pleasant for you and potentially deadly to the frail ladies at the home.

Flu Strikes
Madeline got hit with the dreaded flu and pulled through fairly well. However a slight complication prompted the nursing home to call us and 9-1-1. We followed Mac on her three ambulance rides and made the rounds to two hospitals (advocating for her into the wee hours) to discover that there is little to be done that would not potentially cause her more harm than good. She is back at the nursing home and we are looking at the possibility of hospice care.
